About the role

Leads multiple teams headed by Commodity / Account Management & Strategic Sourcing managers or supervisors, establishing and executing purchasing objectives. Recommends and implements sourcing strategies and networks in support of supply chain strategy. Directs supplier selections, negotiations, and contract administration.

Key Responsibilities:

As aSourcing Director, you’ll be responsible for:

1. Strategic Sourcing: Develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies to achieve cost savings, mitigate supply chain risks, and drive operational efficiency. Conduct thorough market analysis, identify potential suppliers, and negotiate contracts to ensure optimal value for the organization.

2. Supplier Management: Oversee the management of supplier relationships, including performance evaluations, contract negotiations, and strategic partnerships. Maintain a robust supplier base and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supplier capabilities and compliance.

3. Cost Management: Drive cost-saving initiatives through effective negotiation, volume consolidation, and value engineering. Identify opportunities to optimize costs while maintaining quality and reliability of goods and services sourced.

4. Risk Management: Assess and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical, regulatory, quality, and operational risks. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to ensure continuity of supply.

5. Contract Management: Lead the drafting, negotiation, and management of supplier contracts, defining service level agreements, terms and conditions, and performance metrics. Ensure alignment with business requirements and mitigate legal and operational risks.

6. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align sourcing activities with business objectives, ensure integration of the supply chain, and drive cross-functional initiatives to optimize sourcing and procurement processes.

7. Market Research and Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, technological developments, and competitive dynamics within the supply market. Make informed sourcing decisions and capitalize on market opportunities.

8. Compliance and Ethics: Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards in the sourcing process. Monitor and enforce adherence to ethical sourcing practices, labor standards, and environmental regulations.

9. Performance Measurement: Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of sourcing activities, supplier performance, and the overall impact on business operations. Track progress, identify areas for improvement, and drive performance optimization.

10. Talent Development: Lead and develop a high-performing sourcing team, providing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to enhance the capabilities and expertise of the sourcing function.

As a minimum you must have:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) preferred.

2. Proven experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, and supplier management, with a minimum of 8-10 years in leadership roles within a global sourcing environment.

3. Demonstrated track record of driving significant cost savings through strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier optimization, and contract negotiation.

4. Strong analytical and market research skills, with the ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunities while mitigating supply chain risks.

5. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

6. Comprehensive understanding of supply chain dynamics, international trade regulations, and ethical sourcing practices.

7. Proficiency in utilizing sourcing and procurement tools and technologies, including e-sourcing platforms, supplier relationship management (SRM) systems, and contract management software.

8. Leadership and team management experience, with the ability to inspire, develop, and lead a high-performing sourcing team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

9. Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional collaboration, influence decision-making, and implement strategic sourcing initiatives that align with organizational goals and objectives.
