About this role:

The Mechanical Engineer position is a critical position, and the selected individual will play a key role in the following areas of product development: support HVAC package equipment development, secure product requirement compliance and agency certification, conduct qualification plans for refrigeration systems and components.


He or she will actively participate in the New Product Development process applying state-of-art design and simulation tools to document and optimized refrigeration and fluid in HVAC system, review designs for compliance with product agency regulation, verification plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for a sub-project of new product development program or the entire smaller scope new product development program
  • Support and document in heat transfer, thermodynamics, fan systems, and thermal management system analysis in the development of next generation high efficiency and environmentally friendly HVAC&R and electronic control systems
  • Develop and coordinate engineering documents and release
  • Provide daily direction to supporting Designers & Technicians
  • Prepare presentations for component qualification review boards including demonstrating the use of Quality System deployment tools
  • Provide reliability analysis of components and systems
  • Collaborate with team members from Marketing, Design Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering
  • Document process improvements as part of standard engineering work.
  • Identification of reliable and cost-effective purchased components required for new product development projects
  • Execute test and qualification for systems, sub-systems, and components. Review test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications
  • Conduct refrigeration and thermodynamics mathematic simulation over HVAC system.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in HVAC applications or refrigeration based products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or familiarity with various HVAC applications
  • Hands-on experience working in an Engineering design environment
  • Demonstrated system design thinking skills and creative new product design skills
  • Experience in the specification, design, development, and manufacture of products in the HVAC, refrigeration, compression or aligned industries is ideal. Previous relevant products can be both residential and/or commercial air conditioners (air cooled or water cooled)
  • Technical knowledge of refrigeration design, heat transfer, fan systems, structural analysis & electronic control systems
  • Experience with vapor-compression refrigeration or power generation systems including related components: heat exchangers and compression technologies.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work within an engineering design team
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing fabrication and assembly methods.
  • Working knowledge of industry test and safety standards.
  • Experience in continual process improvement.
  • Experience with model-based design techniques
  • Experience integrating and verifying & validating performance systems
  • Ability to work with some to minimal supervision in a lean and fast paced environment
  • Ability to professionally engage with cross-functional and cross-regional teams to understand and translate product requirements into control system requirements
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts across technical and non-technical organizations
  • Ambitious self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced design environment.
  • Ability for developing continuous improvement projects to influence and drive change
  • Demonstrate an ability to deliver successful designs under tight timing constraints.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities.

KEY PROGRAMMING LANGAUGES AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge of model development software tools like Ansys/Fluent is a strong differentiator.
  • Experience in thermo-fluid system control development.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, & PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of UL/ANSI/AHRI standards are a plus
