Summary
Leads large team of experienced Manufacturing Operations professionals or production team leaders. Establishes long term objectives and guidelines for managing and monitoring cell performance and productivity. Directs scheduling and sequencing of work, as well as production innovation to optimize production.

Job Description

  • Manages and ensures all quality related items for the unit or shift are complete and documented so that established quality standards are met.
  • Leads cost reduction efforts and process improvements for the unit or shift to ensure efficiency of operations and cost effectiveness.
  • Leads scheduling for the unit or shift to ensure that operations run according to established production schedules.
  • Leads the sequencing of work, such as build and delivery, for the unit or shift to ensure smooth operations and optimal use of resources.
  • Heads materials and logistics problem resolution for the unit or shift to ensure availability of materials and smooth operations.
  • Establishes performance objectives and leads cell performance and productivity.
  • Leads production innovation, including additive manufacturing, for the unit or shift to enhance production capabilities.
  • Partners with customers to understand customer needs and issues and ensure that the customers receive satisfactory standards of services.

About the role

  • Efficiently plans, organizes and coordinates the manufacturing of products manufactured at Carrier. Supervises the correct and efficient use of the operation's resources such as equipment, personnel and materials. Defines the area's objectives and operational goals. Supervises the preparation and correct execution of the budget. Through effective leadership, develops the production staff and ensures compliance with the objectives in Safety, Quality, Productivity, Production and Cost.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Production team.
  • Manage human resources (direct labor) efficiently according to the production capacity required to meet demand.
  • Develop and execute operational strategies.
  • Establish clear and measurable operational goals and objectives aligned with the business strategy.
  • Monitor compliance with production plans.
  • Monitor the performance of production lines, seek improvement in Safety, Quality and Productivity.
  • Be part of the team for solving production problems, is close to direct staff and the process.
  • Work as a team with departments such as Maintenance, Planning, Materials, Quality, Safety and Training to meet Production objectives.
  • Generate the Production budget and manage its adherence to approved spending.
  • Ensure compliance with Carrier Excellence, Quality Management Systems (ISO) and Safety.
  • Promote continuous improvement and Kaizen projects through Carrier Excellence (CI) tools.
  • Maintains optimal levels and impeccability of 5S in the production lines.
  • Maintains a constructive relationship with delegates and union leaders focused on an excellent work environment.
  • Prepares and controls the department budget.
  • Follows up and complies with the department's KPI metrics.
  • Develops operational staff through training and education according to the needs of the area.
  • Conducts performance evaluations of team members and gives constructive and appreciative feedback in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that development, recognition and rewards are managed fairly and consistently in the area of responsibility.
  • Offers new ideas and suggestions for improvement. Identifies and implements new practices and processes that are best practices in the industry.

Requirements

  • University Degree required: Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics , Industrial & Systems or Related Engineering (Master's degree in Manufacturing or related field is desirable).
  • 5+ years in Manufacturing or Production areas.
  • 5+ years in a management position.
  • Advanced English
  • Principles of Lean Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering.
  • Analytical and planning skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Microsoft Office advanced Excel skills
  • Responsible leadership in resource management, focused on meeting tactical and strategic objectives.
  • Manufacturing processes with +600 employees.
  • Problem solving methodology: PDCA, A3, 8D's, 5S, DOE,
  • Use of Lean Manufacturing tools: Standard Work, 8 Wastes, VSM, etc.
