About this role

This position at Carrier Commercial Service is for a seasoned professional in Project Management, who works independently, supports the development of project plans, schedules & budgets for projects, facilitates project tasks with various functional organizations, forecast project revenues, tracks progress, identifies project problems, and recommends resolutions.

The Project Manager manages the daily coordination of projects including preparing and maintaining budgets, staffing requirements, and is responsible for executing within estimated project costs, managing both material and labor costs. This role gathers and analyzes data, prepares progress reports, coordinates project tasks with various functional organizations, and identifies project problems.

The Project Manager will be traveling to project sites across Ontario daily. Must be willing to travel to Western Canada when needed but this should be only occasional. Overnight travel (depending on location) or weekend work could be required as well.

Sometimes it would be required to come to the office in Mississauga Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review financial project scope and approve estimated costs
  • Work with project coordinator to issue purchase orders for material and subcontractors
  • Prepare accurate monthly project financial projections for all monthly costs
  • Schedule & execute the manpower plan and manage resource requirements on projects
  • Manage purchased material & equipment i.e. coordinate, deliver, receive and inspect
  • Interface with customers and supervise activities as required
  • Document all installation & schedule issues with subcontractors
  • Track & approve subcontractor monthly invoices for accuracy and compliance
  • Provide necessary documentation & communication to customers and sub-contractors and/or ensure that the appropriate members of the project team do so to
  • Represent Carrier Commercial Service professionally in meetings and proactively defend the company’s best interest
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Responsible for the management of onsite commissioning and close-out activities
  • Manage all aspects of the project with minor management supervision
  • Adherence to HSE standards and Carrier-specific practices
  • Monitor trends and implement changes in permits and certifications as required by law

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and GED
  • 5+ years plus experience in the HVAC industry
  • 1+ years of experience in project management or as part of a project team
  • Valid driver license
  • Ability to stand, stoop, reach, bend, climb and crawl on a construction site

Preferred Qualifications

  • 313A licensed Journeyman
  • Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Problem solving, planning and project management skills
  • English written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft 360 and MS Planner
  • Self-starter, be able to organize and plan own work schedule
  • Work well in a team environment
