Carrier Fire & Security Products is seeking a Production Supervisor for its Detector Electronics fire and gas detection business in Bloomington, MN!  Det-Tronics [a subsidiary of Carrier] has been providing proven flame detection, gas detection and hazard mitigation systems for high-risk processes and critical industrial operations worldwide since 1973. The company designs, manufactures and commissions certified SIL 2-capable flame and gas detection solutions. Det-Tronics products carry performance and safety certifications from globally recognized third-party testing agencies and approval bodies.

The Production Supervisor position is a key component of the shop floor leadership and critical to the delivery of value to the customer and business.  This position reports directly to the Manufacturing Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promotes quality through actions; conveys to employees the importance of producing quality products.
  • Lead Tier Meetings to facilitate communication and problem solving between support team members [includes: Employee concerns, safety, Expedites production; strives for maximum output under any conditions encountered.

  • Provide leadership and communication to all team associates to ensure understanding and attainment of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Inventory performance objectives. Implement and practice Carrier Excellence and drive Lean Transformation in your business.

  • Provide visible safety leadership and actively contribute to the creation, implementation, and continuous improvement of a strong, sustainable safety culture in partnership with the EHS Manager. Drive implementation and accountability with the team.

  • Ensure shop floor discipline with proper audit/review processes for 5S, safety, production, etc.

  • Work with team to verify processes are clear and robust, people are properly trained, and processes are being followed.

  • Ensure staffing composition and skills meet operational, reliability, customer and financial objectives.
  • Recruit talented employees, participate in workforce and development planning efforts, establish clear expectations, and effectively manage performance. Provide training, coaching and oversight and drive employee engagement.
  • Willingness to consistently take the initiative to get things done

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ plus years in operations leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four year degree preferably technical related (Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering preferred)
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Excel programming skills
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with and work across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills, demonstrating creativity and technical expertise.
  • Assertive and confident with a strong point of view while able to understand/empathize and support other perspectives. Intent on building trusting and collaborative partnerships/relationships.
  • Strong customer focused mindset.
  • Passion for coaching, developing & mentoring a high-performing product team.
