Role Description
The Senior Manager – IT Assets & Software License Management is a critical leadership role responsible for end-to-end management of IT assets and software licenses across the enterprise.This role owns Hardware Asset Management (HAM), Software Asset & License Management (SAM), and end user device lifecycle and refresh programs, ensuring accurate asset visibility, license compliance, cost optimization, and excellent employee experience.
The role is ideal for a hands-on asset management leader who has operated at scale, understands license compliance and audits, and can drive process discipline, data accuracy, and financial optimization.
Role Responsibilities:
Own the end‑to‑end hardware asset lifecycle: procurement → deployment → moves/adds/changes → refresh → retirement/disposal.
Ensure accurate hardware inventory across end‑user devices and related IT assets.
Define and enforce hardware standards, lifecycle policies, and refresh cycles.
Partner with Desktop, Workplace, and Infrastructure teams to ensure smooth asset operations.
Lead enterprise software license management, ensuring:
License compliance and audit readiness
Accurate entitlement vs consumption tracking
Timely reclamation of unused licenses
Manage major software publishers (e.g., Microsoft, Adobe, engineering and productivity tools).
Drive license optimization and cost savings through usage analysis and rationalization.
Partner with Procurement, Finance, and Legal on contracts, renewals, and audits.
Define refresh cadence, eligibility criteria, and replacement standards.
Ensure asset refresh supports employee productivity, security, and sustainability goals.
Establish and maintain asset and license governance frameworks.
Ensure compliance with software licensing terms, internal controls, and audit requirements.
Track and report asset depreciation, license spend, and savings opportunities.
Provide clear reporting and insights to senior leadership.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
15+ years of IT experience with strong focus on IT Asset and Software License Management.
Proven experience managing HAM, SAM, and end user device lifecycle programs at scale.
Experience supporting software audits and license compliance initiatives.
Strong knowledge of IT Asset Management and Software Asset Management best practices.
Financial and cost optimization mindset.
Ability to balance operational stability with transformation.
Preferred Qualifications:
IT Asset Management / SAM certifications preferred.
ITIL foundation knowledge is a plus.
Strong ownership and execution focus.
Ability to operate in complex, matrixed organizations.
Structured, data driven, and outcome focused mindset.
