About the Role

To ensure that all purchased materials, components, and services meet defined quality standards by developing, monitoring, and improving supplier performance. The role focuses on supplier qualification, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supplier Development & Qualification

  • Conduct supplier audits (process, system, and product audits)
  • Ensure supplier compliance with standards such as ISO 9001 / IATF 16949

2. Quality Assurance & Control

  • Monitor supplier performance using KPIs (PPM, OTD, complaints, etc.)
  • Maintain supplier quality records and documentation

3. Problem Solving & Corrective Actions

  • Drive root cause analysis using tools like 8D, Fishbone, 5-Why
  • Ensure timely implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions

4. Continuous Improvement

  • Drive supplier quality improvement initiatives
  • Reduce defects, rejections, and cost of poor quality (COPQ)
  • Work with suppliers on process capability improvement (Cp, Cpk)

5. Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work closely with Procurement, Manufacturing, and R&D teams
  • Support new product development (NPD) and change management

6. Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure adherence to company quality systems and procedures
  • Maintain audit reports, inspection records, and supplier scorecards
  • Ensure traceability and documentation as per regulatory requirements

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Reduction in Supplier PPM (Parts Per Million defects)
  • Supplier audit scores
  • Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
  • Closure time for corrective actions

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering
  • 12–15 years of experience in Supplier Quality / Manufacturing Quality
  • Experience in automotive, HVAC, or manufacturing industry preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of quality tools (PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA)
  • Expertise in root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa)
  • Good understanding of drawings and manufacturing processes of sheet metal, Cu Fabrication, Machining & Fabrication, Electro Mechanical etc.
  • Strong communication and supplier handling skills
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving ability

Preferred Certifications

  • Six Sigma (Green Belt / Black Belt)
  • Internal Auditor – ISO 9001 / IATF 16949
