About the role

The Company Accountant is central role and a key part of the Finance Team. This will be an exciting time in the department with an upcoming implementation of SAP driving many changes. The successful candidate will be responsible for all external reporting across the UK group. The company is American owned operating under US GAAP. The Company Accountant reports directly to the Financial Controller.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates who are qualified (preferably) or prequalified in Accountancy and possess comprehensive knowledge of VAT and financial reporting.

As a minimum you should have:

  • Previous experience on similar position within Finance or Accounting
  • Qualification in AAT, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting standards UK GAAP (US GAAP will be an asset)
  • Experience in working with VAT return (MTD rules an advantage)
  • Educational background in Accounting or Finance would be an asset
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting standards
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to work well with deadlines
  • Good command of Excel
  • Strong communication skills

As a Company Accountant you will be responsible for:

  • Day-to-day general accounting activities to ensure smooth functioning of the department
  • Performing activities related to general ledger, government accounting, and/or projects
  • Examination of accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
  • Supporting implementation of monthly and quarterly financial and compliance processes to ensure adherence to requirements
  • Managing small scale projects
  • Coordinating internal and external audits for timely completion of audits, preparation of financial statements
  • Assisting with preparation of corporation tax returns
  • Quarterly UK VAT submissions, and bi monthly Irish VAT submissions, ONS returns
  • Completing various group reporting requirements using intranet/web tools
  • PAYE tax assistance for foreign workers
  • Month end closing
