About this Role

Carrier is looking for a highly motivated and results driven Software Engineering Intern to work with the Commercial Controls Engineering team to support projects focusing on control software design and development for embedded HVAC control systems. The assignment will be during the summer of 2025 for 3-4 months.

Role Responsibilities

  • Develop and debug application software; implement changes and updates, as needed
  • Development of embedded control algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink
  • Document and test control applications
  • Research, investigate and fix technical issues with the code
  • Collaborating with senior members in the team
  • Participate in peer reviews and support design reviews
  • Prepare end of summer internship report out and presentation

Basic Qualification

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree (or Higher) in Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering, Controls, Mechatronics or Computer Science
  • GPA must be greater than or equal to a 3.0 GPA
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualification

  • Experience with programming languages, C, C++, Python
  • Experience of simulation and Model-Based Design using MATLAB/ Simulink
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, Ethernet)
  • Experience working with Linux
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented
  • Ability to professionally engage with cross-functional and cross-regional teams
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Highly developed analytical and organizational skills
  • Professional self-starter harboring a positive attitude
