About This Role

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineering professional with deep knowledge and highly developed technical expertise. Develops small to mid-size product plans and budgets, performs critical analysis, pursues all cost saving opportunities to maximize project profitability, and monitors project performance. Identifies and reacts to project problems and recommends solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures accountability in driving project team to execute on time and on budget.
  • Manages stakeholders through effective communication, balances scope, time, and resources effectively.
  • Leverages data, intuition, and experience to make good decisions.
  • Can diffuse conflict and find common ground in challenging situations.
  • Develops and executes an end-to-end multi-functional commercialization plan to deliver product/system offerings within the committed timeline, budget, and quality.
  • Creates, assembles and leads a cross-functional team along all elements of the value chain, ensuring that comprehensive cross functional plans and deliverables are in place.
  • Lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts between internal teams and outside merchants and vendors to develop optimal solutions.
  • Drives the rigorous use of the Carrier stage gate process to assure that commitments are well defined and met.
  • Provides for the timely assessment, planning, and execution of product commercialization plans.
  • Manages program risks and issues and ensures effective contingency and action planning.
  • Mindset of contingency planning and creative ways to resolve roadblocks before impact to schedule and budget.
  • Develops and monitors key product, program, and business metrics. Informs program team and business leaders as soon as an “out of bounds” condition develops. Develops recommendations for dealing with the situation in a timely fashion.
  • Delivers consistent and credible communication to the program team and business leaders (risks, issues, wins/loses).
  • Manages program risks and issues at all levels and ensures developing and meeting effective contingency and action planning.
  • Utilize tools/resources to effectively manage the program (MS Project, MS Office, Resource Management, HP Quality Center, Rally, Forecast Spreadsheets, and Budget Planning, etc.
  • Manage development of critical strategic programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical degree
  • 2+ years of experience leading software and hardware development projects, and a track record of shipping products on time.
  • 7+ years of experience in the field of program management in New Product Development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing multiple cross functional global engineering programs with complex interdependencies and aggressive schedules from inception to commercialization.
  • Thorough understanding of business processes, with an emphasis on product development and procurement lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of multiple product development methodologies and tools. E.g. Agile, Iterative, Waterfall.
  • Analyzes and can clearly articulate the root cause of program delays and works with key stakeholders to drive continuous improvement by implementing fixes in order to mitigate similar issues with future programs.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively and proactively communicate with executive leaders, cross functional teams, and global stakeholders in a matrix environment.
  • Results driven with a bias for action and the ability to break down barriers across functions to accelerate programs and profitable growth • Excellent time and task management skills with ability to provide direction and focus on deliverables • Strong oral and written communication skills, including ability to influence various levels within the organization necessary to achieve project goals. 
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including managing resources in a matrix environment and ability to build strong relationships, and foster an effective team environment.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, influence, lead, and motivate.
  • PMP, CSM or Scrum Cert. is desired.
