This position is for a Lead Field Technician in Aftermarket and Service who is under minimal supervision. Installs, tests, services and repairs complex equipment to conform with company operating specifications and customer requirements. Leads lower level staff to maintain and analyze equipment logs to identify equipment repair needs and required repair methods. Relies on moderate to extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implement the startup, commission, and re-commission of customer systems that utilize pneumatic / electrical / electronic technology
Maintain accurate As-Built drawing package and make changes in Visio, Excel, Word, as required
Responsible for calibration of systems requiring basic electronic test equipment, such as multi-meters, network terminals and/ or a laptop computer
Implement static (stand-alone) and dynamic (total building interactive network) commissioning of software programming
Set-up of operator workstations with all associated software
Responsible for performing job database backups on a daily basis or as advised
Manage process of turnover to service
Track and record job progress and keep lead project personnel informed on progress
Keep project management apprised of concerns and issues
Complete paperwork on-time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation and project status reports
Communicate with lead project personnel upon arrival and before leaving the work site
Ethernet set-up and troubleshooting on standalone network and customer network (BBMD's) including switches and routers.
Digital Points: Understand, execute, calibrate and document start-up.
Analog Points: Understand, execute, calibrate and document start-up.
Loop Tuning: Able to perform PID loop tuning.
Integration: Establish communication, apply and troubleshoot third party BACnet and Modbus.
Equipment installation / Termination: Read, understand and utilize installation manuals. Properly configure controller jumpers, inputs and outputs for different signal types.
Mechanical Design: Understands mechanical systems and able to read mechanical drawings.
Electrical Concepts and Schematics: Understands basic electrical concepts and drawings.
Terminal Equipment Devices: Understands the design and operation of VAV's, Unit Vents, Pkg AC's.
Understanding and Programming Fan Systems: Understands the theory and application of AHU's EF's, etc and can write programs.
Programming CHW / CW Systems: Understands the theory & application and can program systems.
Advanced HVAC Troubleshooting: Able to troubleshoot complete HVAC System including electrical and mechanical issues.
Electrical Systems: Understands relay panels, MCC's, starters, VFD's, cables, etc.
Functional Testing: Able to test and troubleshoot existing program per an approved sequence.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
5+ years’ experience in the HVAC controls industry.
1+ years’ experience creating, downloading, and troubleshooting complex HVAC system logic using WebCTRL or associated software.
1+ years’ experience working with TCP/IP networks including wireless technology design and troubleshooting.
1+ years’ experience with computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Possess and maintain valid and current Driver’s License and be insurable by the company’s insurance carrier.
Ability to read and understand Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical blueprints.
Ability to travel in excess of 20% of typical workweek.
Be open to work a rotating, on-call schedule
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Electronics, or IT.
Field experience and a complete understanding of the installation and operation of Automated Logic Controls and knowledge and understanding of third party control systems and integrations.
Experience with Automated Logic and Phoenix software to include: WebCtrl, SiteBuilder, ViewBuilder, LogicBuilder, InterOp 3.02, Alert, Draw, EDB, Eikon, Supervision, and Accel Works.
