About this role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Hardware Integration Test Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, executing, and validating test plans for the integration of hardware components into larger systems. You will work closely with the design and development teams to ensure the successful integration and functionality of hardware systems and subsystems. Your primary focus will be ensuring the hardware meets all specifications and performance requirements through rigorous testing and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
Test Planning and Execution:
Design, develop, and execute test plans for hardware integration, focusing on system compatibility, functionality, and performance.
Perform both manual and automated tests to evaluate the functionality of hardware components and their integration with software systems.
Conduct tests in various stages of the product lifecycle, including pre-production, system integration, and post-deployment.
Hardware Integration:
Integrate new hardware components with existing systems, ensuring smooth interoperability and adherence to technical specifications.
Work with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, and quality assurance teams, to troubleshoot integration issues.
Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting:
Identify, diagnose, and resolve hardware-related issues during integration testing.
Perform root cause analysis of integration failures and work with engineers to implement corrective actions.
Document detailed findings of defects and suggest improvements or changes to hardware design as needed.
Test Documentation and Reporting:
Record and document test results, issues encountered, and solutions implemented.
Create comprehensive test reports for both internal stakeholders and clients.
Ensure all testing processes are well-documented, and results are communicated effectively to team members.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in hardware integration and testing.
Suggest improvements to current testing methodologies and processes.
Provide feedback for design and development teams to enhance product quality and efficiency.
Collaboration:
Work closely with product development teams to understand hardware specifications and ensure successful integration.
Participate in design and review meetings to provide input on potential integration challenges.
Collaborate with other engineers to ensure seamless integration with software and other hardware systems.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science with 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science with 3+ years of experience in Quality Assurance
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (Java, C#, Python, Bash, etc.) for test automation.
Experience with FPGA or embedded system testing is preferred.
Familiarity with industry-standard testing tools like LabVIEW, MATLAB, or similar is preferred.
Prior experience in a collaborative engineering environment is preferred.
3+ years of experience in hardware testing and integration is preferred.
Hands-on experience with hardware debugging and integration tools (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters).
Experience in testing hardware systems in both development and production environments.
Strong understanding of hardware components, such as processors, sensors, communication interfaces, and power systems.
Familiarity with software and hardware debugging techniques, as well as troubleshooting tools.
Knowledge of software version control systems (e.g., Git) is a plus.
Familiarity with various testing standards and methodologies, including functional, regression, and performance testing.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to interpret technical specifications and design documentation.
Attention to Detail: Ability to identify issues during integration testing and troubleshoot complex hardware problems.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and document test results.
Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Comfortable working with electrical equipment and performing hands-on testing.
