About This Role: 

This position is for an experienced professional in Materials & Logistics, who works independently, monitors distribution of materials, develops standard operating procedures, evaluates inventory costs and sets service rates. You will support three business units (Truck/Trailer, Container and Marine) aftermarket parts distribution in North and South America, actively planning ~5,000 stock and 25,000 non-stock SKU's with the materials team based in Syracuse, NY.  The materials planner will be responsible for performing all tasks involved in the requisition, shipment, and storage of materials into a distribution warehouse environment. They will work directly with outside vendors as well as various internal departments to support customer needs.

Job Description:

  • Reviewing/updating forecasts, determining the required materials and generating purchase orders.

  • Expediting with suppliers as needed and advising the customer service team with relevant updates.

  • Engaging in the SIOP process with sales marketing, finance and supply chain to improve part forecasts and inventory levels.

  • Liaising with customers, suppliers, distributors and the distribution warehouse.

  • Managing inventory issues, sales order changes and cancellations.

  • Minimize E&O and manage inventory levels to support product changes, platform introduction and platform discontinuance

  • Support cost and inventory reduction and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Manage freight costs through appropriate planning

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree

  • 3+ yrs. experience in material planning, inventory management or purchasing/sourcing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or higher preferred

  • Experience using JD Edwards

  • Analytical skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, problem solving and time management skills

Pay Range:

$74,181 - $130,206 Annually
