About the role:
As a Renewable Energy Engineer at NORESCO, you will have the opportunity tobe part of renewable energy projects from initial feasibility assessment through project implementation. This role includes participation in remote and on-site assessments, system sizing/layouts, component selection, system modeling, energy/cost/greenhouse gas savings calculations and scope of work development including developing budget quality project cost estimates and performing life cycle cost analysis. This role also provides opportunities to interact closely and coordinate with members of the business development, operations, and engineering teams to pursue and deliver projects.
You will have the ability to build upon your prior renewable experience to:
- Perform renewable energy feasibility assessmentsand develop business cases for the deployment of renewable energyfor clients in the municipal/county government, education, correctional, commercial, industrial, lab, pharmaceutical, and healthcare sectors
- Develop concept module layouts, perform simulation modeling and provide analysis of annual production, avoided cost and greenhouse gas reductions.
- Conduct detailed site evaluations, identify optimal system sizing, recommend system interconnection points, and review and confirm solar readiness based on physical site conditions and limitations.
- Develop budget quality project cost estimates to be utilized in financial proforma and life cycle cost analysis.
- Develop supporting deliverables including single line diagrams, equipment or material specifications, engineering validation, and 3D renderings.
- Review design documents, equipment submittals, O&M manuals, and supporting document to validate contracted scopes of work
- Prepare detailed technical reports and client-facing presentations.
- Assist with Request for Proposal (RFP’s) review, technical writing, and response coordination
- Manage multiple projects in accordance with project contracts, schedules, budgets, and design specifications, as well as oversee subcontractors and construction managers/coordinators
- Foster effective and positive business relationships both internally and externally within the industry
- Attend trade meetings to create and enhance business relationships
Additionally, as part of our Sustainability Services consulting team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to other decarbonization, electrification, and sustainability services such as:
- Performing energy audits and retro-commissioning studies
- Evaluating renewable and energy efficiency technologies including wind turbines, micro-cogeneration systems, ground source heat pumps, biomass systems, and thermal storage systems
- Developing decarbonization and electrification strategic plans
- Evaluating new and innovative advancements in technology
- Learning from in-house technical subject matter experts and our formal mentorship program, train junior-level engineers
- Tracking project budgets to achieve financial metrics
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Willing to travel 20%
- 4+ years’ experience in renewable energy engineering field including identifying renewable energy opportunities, performance of on-site surveys, component selection, utility bill analysis and energy/cost savings calculations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in system design, construction oversight and/or commissioning of systems
- Ability to create conceptual designs and/or single-line diagrams
- Proven solar construction management experience at a commercial scale
- Knowledgeable of codes including NFPA and National Electrical Code, standards, and permitting process
- AEE Certified Renewable Energy Professional – REP or SEI solar professional certification
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
- Knowledge of local, regional, national, and international energy codes as well as renewable energy credit and incentive programs
- Experience with renewable energy modeling software
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience collaboratively working with cross-functional teams
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of personal responsibility and ownership of work products

Pay Range:
