Role Purpose
Carrier is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our Carrier Commercial Services (CCS) division of Carrier Corporation. As a subsidiary of Carrier, we provide comprehensive HVAC maintenance and repairs for commercial buildings, schools and retail spaces with a focus on optimizing performance, energy efficiency and sustainability.
In this role you will work within the CCS Accounting team and with other cross-functional teams to ensure business operations are smooth and that accounting & reporting are timely and accurate.
This position follows a hybrid schedule, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote per week.
Role Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Support the month end closing & reporting processes to ensure accuracy of financial reporting
Complete timely account reconciliations and ensure their quality complies with Carrier standards
Quarterly review of open AR and recording allowance for bad debt and dispute reserve per policy, preparation of the supplemental and account reconciliations.
Sales Incentive Accounting including monthly accruals for all programs, reconciliation of accruals, payouts and recording any necessary true ups
Manage key reserves including the Warranty reserve transferred from Applied, the EAC loss reserve by reviewing open projects with negative margin and adjusting the reserve based on the total estimated project costs; and calculating the Net Asset Exposure to reverse revenue recognized on overbilled dormant projects.
Reconciliation of the Startup clearing account to ensure CCS has been reimbursed by DSO for all Start up billings
Project accounting and revenue recognition oversight
Assist with month over month and YTD flux analysis and reporting to CSA Controller and WHQ
Manage restructuring accounting, reporting of utilization and quarterly reserve review with WHQ
Assisting with M&A activities related to finance integration when required
Provide accounting support when required for special projects such as account reconciliation rec item review
Assist with regulatory reporting coordinated by WHQ and Tax (Federal and State packages, BE-125, CQ2, AIES, lobbying, BOD affiliates, Property Collection Review for risk mgmt.)
Participate in finance and digital (DT) projects, offering support for system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements
Maintain standard work documentation of accounting processes and procedures to ensure knowledge continuity
Support SOX compliance and internal controls activities
Participate in Carrier Excellence/continued improvement initiatives when required
Contribute to ad hoc projects and initiatives as requested by the Controller and business/finance leadership
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a business field.
4+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
2+ years of advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., complex formulas, data modeling, pivot tables).
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certifications (CPA, CMA, or equivalent).
Background in public accounting or exposure to a manufacturing/industrial environment.
Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP standards and internal control frameworks (SOX compliance).
Practical experience with percentage-of-completion accounting (ASC 606 revenue recognition).
Hands-on proficiency with SAP S/4HANA ERP.
Demonstrated experience utilizing financial automation and process-improvement tools to streamline reporting.
Proven track record of cross-functional collaboration and leadership across organizational levels.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills with high attention to detail and deadline adherence.
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation capabilities.

Pay Range
The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction in which the applicant is to be employed.Other Compensation
This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.Benefits
