About the role

Role Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating market demand for the company's building automation product solutions among market influencers, specifiers, property developers/managers and contractors.

  • Responsible for assisting the company's product distribution channel partners with the design of building automation solutions that meet project specifications and leverage the company's building automation product offerings.

  • Responsible for educating the company's product distribution channel partners on the function and application of its building automation product solutions.

Role Purpose

  • You will leverage your experience and knowledge of building automation systems, communication protocols, IP networking, and APIs, to aide specifying and designing activities in the building and construction industry.

  • You will use your technical expertise to influence Engineers, Building Owners, and Developers to design and specify building automation solutions. This will include design and engineering support for building systems such as HVAC, lighting, sustainability programs/features, and other sub-systems that impact facility comfort and energy intensity usage.

  • You will support and assist the company's commercial sales team members and assist local training and marketing initiatives when called upon.

  • Developing trust with market influencers and client is imperative. A key performance metric in this regard is becoming their trusted technical advisor that results in improved product positioning and market share.

  • You will be part of the growing commercial sales and business development team. You will have opportunities to grow within this position or transfer to adjacent roles within this team through extraordinary performance and a mindset for success. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about our product, technology, and industry, which will equip you for other exciting roles that you may aspire to.

Requirements

As a Solutions Sales Consultant minimum you must have:

  • 5+ years of experience working in the building automation and controls industry with specialized experience in the design and engineering of building automation systems is .

  • 3+ years of experience influencing market decision makers, specifier's, and clients via a technical consulting engineering role.

  • HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

  • Business travel up to 50% locally is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably either Mechanical or Controls Engineering.

  • 10+ years of experience developing and engineering building automation systems. 

  • CEM, LEED AP, and WELL AP accreditation or PE certification.

  • Deep knowledge of HVAC, lighting, other building systems, and IT networking/Integration – both in design and maintainability.

  • Ability to work within a fast-moving engineering design team.
