Looking for an Engineer to analyze operations information and make changes to procedures/processes/equipment as needed to solve problems or improve efficiency. This is a vital role in designing and developing systems for manufacturing operations.
This position offers high visibility and an excellent pathway to future opportunities. The identified candidate will report directly to the manufacturing engineering manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with production, manufacturing engineering, and maintenance to achieve operational goals
- Activities involve troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems; research, development, design, testing, and building electromechanical systems and controls
- Analyzes machinery and equipment designs to ensure factory and production conditions are met
- Provide technical support involving the installation of new equipment, modification of existing equipment, repair, and maintenance of equipment, as well as sustainability
- Perform problem-solving, troubleshooting, and relentless root cause analysis on all breakdowns to minimize downtime to back shops and assembly
- Utilize the Carrier Excellence (Lean Six Sigma) operating system to propose and implement changes to existing processes to streamline and improve overall performance while maintaining cost controls and creating cost-effective use of resources
- Provides technical leadership and helps train lower-level staff to diagnose and solve problems and build capabilities
- Highly visible role, the Stamping Engineer manages technical aspects for Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing to deliver world-class products on time and cost-effectively
- Feedback dies issues to Tool & Die team for resolution
- Support commercial and costs activities, fixture costs, tooling costs, test costs, etc., during NPI engineering, builds
- Assists development with new process or materials as requested
- Evaluate manufacturing processes based on quality, efficiency, ergonomics, and safety
Study production and machine requirements - Develop and test effective automated and manual systems
- Design and install equipment
- Organize and manage manufacturing workflows and resources
Integrate disparate systems (e.g., equipment handling, transport) - Optimize facility layouts, production lines, machine operations.
- Resolve issues and bottlenecks in production
- Find ways to reduce costs and maximize quality
- Train staff in new and existing processes
- Collaborate with other engineers, contractors, suppliers, and team members
- Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations
- Upgrade systems and processes with new technology
- The primary responsibility of this role is equipment reliability and improvements
- Collecting and evaluating process data to identify process gaps, and drive improvements.
- Assist production/maintenance with major breakdown issues
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering.
- 5+ yrs. of experience of engineering working in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience to specify and or install in die protection sensors
- Relevant experience with Stamping processes on progressive and universal dies
- STONGLY desired Stamping Press, Die Manufacturing and/or Automation Equipment knowledge
- Cost Justification of Refurbishment/Expansion Projects
- Project Planning and Schedule Management for Press Operations
- Interface with Contractors / Skilled Trades, Affiliate Companies, Engineers and Equipment Manufacturers Tryout leader for New Model Part Tryouts for Press and Die Operations
- Project Planning and Schedule Management for Press Operations
- Knowledge of NEC Electrical Code, NFPA guidelines, OSHA Press safety, Safety PLC Standards (Class I Div III), etc.
- Proficient in various software applications including, but not limited to, the Microsoft programs, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Pro-E, Cad-key
- Fundamental troubleshooting skills involving electrical design and hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
- Excellent communication skills: candidate must be comfortable providing briefings at all levels of management
- Ability to influence decisions downstream and upstream
- Solid understanding of lean principles to effectively create, implement and monitor process improvement initiatives
- Ability to work in a self-directed manner
