About This Role
This Senior Buyer role will be a customer-centric employee that will focus their regular activities in purchasing and monitoring inventory for current products along with new product launches. They will manage daily order scheduling, collaborate with production, quality, finance/accounting, and engineering departments to meet company objectives. They will also perform analysis of cost savings, monitor price changes, manage supplier relationships, and spend, negotiate, and establish new suppliers as needed. They will use internal data via our ERP system and other applicable sources to improve overall factory performance through cost various reduction strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Purchasing material, PO Management (including date and cost integrity)
- Develop and manage parts/purchasing strategies via ERP system
- Managing supplier relations and pricing
- Material disposition via the ECO/ECI process
- Coordinate inbound freight with supplier and usage of applicable transportation management systems
- Generates material requirements based on manufacturing production schedules; reviews and processes purchase orders to meet the needs of production
- Adjusts due dates, quantities, and shipments as appropriate to meet production needs; ensures dates are communicated to and agreed with the supplier
- Participation in any corresponding meetings with an understanding of all ECO changes being implemented
- Quickly and pro-actively identifies any potential materials supply issues, communicates and seeks resolution
- Responsible for small projects or multiple tasks within functional discipline
- Makes significant contribution to their team by applying their knowledge of the discipline
- Works with moderate guidance on projects with short-term focus
- Has a solid understanding of the fundamentals of the discipline and role—continues to develop specialized knowledge
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED
- 8+ years of operations and/or manufacturing purchasing experience
- Ability to travel 25%
Preferred Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree preferred
- CPIM Certification desired
- Must be able to work within a team atmosphere and contribute by applying their acquired functional knowledge to daily business demands
- Must be proficient in Excel and all Microsoft office products
- Working knowledge of JD Edwards preferred
- Must be detail oriented and have the ability to manage tasks with an extreme sense of urgency
- Must be proactive in every task
- Eager to learn and multi-task in a high volume, time sensitive environment
