About this role:
Carrier is seeking a proven communications professional who will help drive strategic corporate messaging, executive thought leadership for select C-suite leaders and strong top-tier media relationships. The chosen candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the public image of Carrier, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders, and effectively communicating our company's mission, values and achievements to the world. This position reports to the Executive Director of Corporate Communications at Carrier’s world headquarters in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
This position manages multiple teams in a small plant, branch, or department in Public Relations and Communications and oversees the development of public relations communication plans. Oversees relationships with various internal and external stakeholders, the development of highly complex and sensitive communication materials, and oversees the relationship with external strategic communication channels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Communications: Work with the Executive Director of Corporate Communications to develop and execute a comprehensive corporate communications strategy aligned with the company's overall objectives and values.
- Message Development: Craft a compelling corporate narrative to drive consistent messaging reflecting the company's brand and mission, ensuring alignment across all channels.
- Thought Leadership: Develop and execute thought leadership strategies and plans for select C-suite leaders to support the company’s growth strategy.
- Media Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets and journalists to ensure positive coverage of the company and its initiatives.
- Collaboration: Work closely with agency partners and internal teams, including communications, marketing, legal, and segment leadership, to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging and communication efforts.
- Measurement and Analysis: Leverage data to assess the effectiveness of communications messaging and make insights-driven recommendations for improvements.
- Cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with senior business unit and department leaders and executives, government officials, media representatives, and other internal and external groups and individuals and leverages these relationships to develop new business opportunities and drive marketplace awareness of the organization, products, and business.
- Leads the development of strategic public relations communication plans for an assigned department.
- Works with business unit or department leaders and executives to develop and implement highly complex communication plans and select the optimal communication method to deliver highly complex information internally and externally.
- Manages multiple large teams of public relations staff that prepare substantial and complex internal and external communications.
- Oversees the development of executive communications and the interviews with and speeches of senior department or business unit leaders and executives.
- Arranges interviews with high-visibility publications and other channels; ensures that the content communicated effectively reflects the organization's strategic focus.
- Anticipates and leads the production of internal and external crisis communications; oversees the content and ensures materials are distributed to the appropriate audiences in a timely manner.
- Leads the development of highly complex and sensitive communication materials for key leaders, executives, and other internal spokespeople who provide highly complex and strategic perspectives and insights to the media and other external sources.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with 12 years of experience in Journalism, Communications or Public Relations OR a Master's Degree with 10 years of experience in Journalism, Communications, or Public Relations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Requires deep management and leadership knowledge to lead cross-department project teams or manage across multiple related departments.
- Experience developing communications for global and multinational audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, and social media platforms, specifically LinkedIn.
- Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills that reflect an ability to clarify and simplify complex issues and subject matters.
- Strong executive presence, exceptional listening skills, ability to anticipate needs and prepare accordingly, and comfort making recommendations to senior leaders.
- Proven project management skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency under demanding deadlines, and balance multiple projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Ability to translate data into insights.
- Team player with a positive, collaborative work ethic.
- Given the nature of this position, at times the work product associated with this role will require the incumbent to work after hours and/or manage highly urgent, short-deadline priorities.

Pay Range:
