    Role Summary

    Responsible for strategic sourcing and supplier development of steel components, including fabricated, machined, stamped, welded, and sheet metal parts. The role focuses on cost optimization, tooling management, localization, and supplier performance while collaborating with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure timely development and supply. Ensures all components meet defined cost, quality, delivery, and technical requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Development

    • Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers for steel fabricated and sheet metal components.

    • Execute RFQ activities, commercial negotiations, and supplier selection.

    • Drive dual sourcing and risk mitigation initiatives.

    • Support localization projects and supplier footprint expansion activities.

    • Monitor supplier performance on Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Responsiveness.

    Tooling Management

    • Manage development of tooling, dies, molds, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and inspection tools.

    • Coordinate tooling feasibility reviews with suppliers and Engineering teams.

    • Track tooling investment, timelines, ownership, and life cycle management.

    • Ensure tooling readiness aligns with new product development milestones.

    • Support tooling transfers and capacity expansion projects.

    New Product Development & Project Management

    • Lead sourcing activities for new product launches.

    • Coordinate with Engineering for drawings, BOM reviews, design changes, and technical clarifications.

    • Ensure timely completion of sample development, qualification, and PPAP submission.

    • Track project timelines and drive closure of critical path activities.

    Cost Management

    • Conduct cost analysis and should-cost modeling.

    • Lead productivity, VA/VE, and cost reduction initiatives.

    • Manage commodity price impacts and negotiate cost-effective solutions.

    • Develop long-term sourcing strategies for steel categories.

    Supplier Quality & Qualification

    • Coordinate supplier audits, capability assessments, and qualification activities.

    • Work with Quality teams for PPAP, APQP, CQS, and process approvals.

    • Resolve quality issues through cross-functional collaboration.

    • Drive continuous improvement at supplier locations.

    Supply Chain & Operations Support

    • Monitor supplier capacity, inventory, and delivery performance.

    • Support S&OP and demand planning activities.

    • Ensure material availability for production requirements.

    • Work on inventory optimization and lead-time reduction initiatives

    Minimum Requirements

    • A minimum of 10 years prior relevant experience

    • Experience on Steel commodity, vendor development, spend analysis, new development or product, should costing.

    • Requires theoretical to advanced knowledge obtained through a university degree, combined with experience

    • Practical knowledge of Carrier organization, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work
