HVAC Asia Pacific is a regional division of Carrier’s HVAC segment and includes Residential & Light Commercial, Applied, and Services & Controls solutions. The region includes B2B and B2C channels and a full range of brands that have recently been enhanced with acquisition of the China Giwee business in 2021, Toshiba’s Corporation’s HVAC business in 2022, and most recently the acquisition of Viessmann Climate Controls in early 2024.
About the role
HVAC Asia Pacific is seeking a strategy professional responsible for the full range of high impact strategies to drive profitable product growth. This role will provide an opportunity to have an unparalleled impact on the Asia Pacific direction. Key Responsibilities:
As a Director - Strategy & Transformation, you'll be responsible for:
1. Strategic Planning:
- Develop and refine the organization's overall strategic plan in alignment with long-term objectives.
- Strategically assess portfolio and drive key interventions to enhance product growth
- Analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and industry disruptions to identify growth opportunities.
2. Transformation Leadership:
- Provide guidance and stir to key transformational initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, driving innovation, and improving organizational effectiveness.
- Develop and implement change management strategies to facilitate smooth transitions and adoption of new processes or technologies.
- Monitor progress, track key performance indicators, and adjust strategies as needed to ensure successful transformation outcomes.
3. Joint Ventures Management:
- Identify potential JV opportunities that align with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
- Evaluate partnership proposals, conduct due diligence, and negotiate terms and agreements with potential partners.
- Manage ongoing relationships with joint venture partners, ensuring alignment of interests and maximizing value creation.
4. Mergers & Acquisitions:
- Lead M&A review activities, including target identification and alignment to key organizational objectives.
- Ensure key targets receive adequate support for due diligence and negotiation of acquisition deals.
- Oversee development of the integration plans to facilitate seamless integration of acquired entities into the organization.
Requirements:
- 12 years of relevant working experience
- Bachelor’s or Masters degree in engineering, business or related fields
- Proven previous P&L leadership role managing across a diverse portfolio of products and countries.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
- Knowledge and previous success experience of relevant regulatory frameworks and industry best practices in strategic management, joint ventures, and M&A.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to inspire teams, drive change, and deliver results in a dynamic cross functional environment.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with a focus on driving value and achieving business objectives.
- You are eager to have a high degree of ownership, directly framing and influencing strategic decisions.
- Position will be ideally based in Singapore, and the candidate is expected to be globally mobile with expected business travel less than 30%.
