About the role

As an Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations by ensuring the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of automated systems. You will be involved in the implementation of new equipment and processes, working closely with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to deliver high-quality, efficient, and innovative manufacturing solutions. Your contributions will directly impact production continuity, operational excellence, and the successful deployment of new technologies within the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Automation Engineer, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Programming, updating, and supporting PLCs and HMIs to ensure optimal equipment performance

  • Participating in the implementation of new equipment and processes, including validation, FAT/SAT, and commissioning activities

  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting automation, controls, and robotics issues to minimize downtime

  • Coordinating with external suppliers to ensure equipment meets technical and operational requirements

  • Supporting production during equipment startup and ensuring smooth handover to operations

  • Documenting programs, schematics, technical manuals, and engineering changes

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams (production, quality, maintenance, and engineering)

  • Supporting Industry 4.0 and connectivity initiatives within the plant

Requirements

We are looking for people who are proactive, hands-on, analytical problem-solvers with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset. If this is you, get in touch.

As a minimum you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, Controls Engineering, or related field

  • 3+ years of experience in industrial automation within manufacturing environments

  • Hands-on experience programming PLCs and HMIs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Mitsubishi)

  • Experience in commissioning, troubleshooting, and supporting automated production equipment

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation

  • Experience with industrial or collaborative robots (FANUC, Yaskawa, ABB or similar)

Although not necessary, it would be nice if you have:

  • Knowledge of vision systems and industrial safety systems

  • Experience with industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet) and Industry 4.0 concepts

  • Experience with simulation tools such as Process Simulate or Plant Simulation
