About this role
The Outside Sales Representative is a customer-facing, quota-carrying role responsible for driving sales growth and expanding market share across the Greater Vancouver Area. This position combines business development and technical sales, with a focus on identifying, advancing, and closing building automation opportunities.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, results-driven sales professional with strong technical aptitude in building automation systems, capable of navigating complex construction environments, influencing stakeholders, and collaborating cross-functionally to win and deliver projects.
Hybrid role. One day a week in the office and 4 days a week visiting existing and potential customers.
Core Responsibilities:
- Identify and develop Building Automation opportunities through bid/specification platforms, construction databases, and industry networking across the Greater Vancouver area.
- Build and expand relationships with owners, consultants, contractors, and end-users to position and close tailored building automation solutions.
- Review project documentation, perform take-offs, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to support accurate and competitive proposals.
- Lead the sales cycle, including prospecting, opportunity qualification, solution positioning, proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
- Manage and maintain opportunity pipelines, account activity, and forecasts within CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
- Represent the company at client meetings, job sites, industry events, and trade shows to strengthen market presence and generate qualified leads.
- Negotiate contract terms and pricing aligned with company strategy, margin expectations, and risk management guidelines.
- Provide market intelligence, competitive insights, and customer feedback to inform strategy and drive continuous improvement.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 2+ years of outside sales experience within Greater Vancouver market.
- 2+ years of experience within the building automation industry.
- Travel up to 25% to attend corporate meetings, training and industry events.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with design/engineering, estimating and CRM tools are a plus. (Examples: Bluebeam, BidTracer, Salesforce)

Pay Range
The expected base salary range for this role is between $89,500.00 CAD - $139,500.00 CAD annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. This compensation includes components such as base salary, vacation pay, public holiday pay, potential estimated overtime pay and paid statutory leaves of absence. Additional benefits may include insured benefits such as health care, vision, dental, disability, as well as possible retirement contributions.Other Compensation
This role may also provide the opportunity to earn additional incentive compensation in the form of annual bonus, sales bonus, sales commission or local incentive. If the role provides for an opportunity to earn additional incentive compensation, it will be based on measurable performance factors which may include company performance, individual performance or other key performance indicators.Use of AI
