This position is for a Lead Field Technician in Aftermarket and Service who is under minimal supervision. Installs, tests, services and repairs complex equipment to conform with company operating specifications and customer requirements. Leads lower level staff to maintain and analyze equipment logs to identify equipment repair needs and required repair methods. Relies on moderate to extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned task.

Key Responsibilities

  • Start up, commission, re-commission customer systems that utilize DDC technology
  • Adheres to all ALC and customer safety standards. Promotes safety awareness on work sites and provides safety leadership to employees and subcontractors. 
  • Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the facility. Ensures high levels of customer satisfaction. Meets regularly with customers representative consult on facility performance. Keeps customer informed of the nature of service we are onsite to perform. 
  • Communicates outstanding issues and provides field quotes for system enhancements, upgrades, and/or repairs. These may be optimizing operational functions, energy related, network related or related to customer asset protection from cyber threats.  Actively participates with service account manager and sales team to engineer and estimate complex solutions. 
  • Actively works with sales and account team to consistently transform agreement base to higher level outcome and technology-based offerings.  Consistently drives customer base toward proactive and condition-based offerings. 
  • Performs system maintenance in accordance with established service practices and direction including field controllers, servers and workstations and field hardware.  Maintains feedback of equipment scheduling and modifications needed to service account manager. 
  • Interfaces with service coordinator, service account manager and service project managers to coordinate activities as required in a professional manner.  Acts to provide feedback on team assignments, skill certifications and learning recommendations as required. 
  • Performs diagnostics and repairs to complex control systems. Knowledge of multiple manufacturers controls systems and ability to test and write modifications in multiple languages of systems software.  
  • Provides training to customers for their specific control systems operations. Delivers documentation to the customer for training as needed or as contractual obligation requires. 
  • Follows established learning path focusing on either building operations or efficiency or a concentration on networking and cyber technologies.  Owns and drives personal learning path.  Completes certifications as required by the company, these could be CEM or various Cisco or Microsoft certifications depending on local market and project needs. 
  • Actively participates in leadership learning path and practices leadership skills while mentoring, performing group training, performance review input or other leader development assignments.  
  • Provides solutions to increasingly complex system problems by troubleshooting systems and leading others on how to resolve problems. Works with subcontractors and other trades as needed to ensure proper operation. 
  • Local escalation point for technical issues.  May coach and resolve issues either on site or through remote coaching. 
  • Completes all job required documentation on-time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation and project status reports in accordance with company policy as required. 

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 7+ years’ experience in the HVAC Controls Industry or similar low voltage systems.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to travel in excess of 50% of typical workweek in the local service area.
  • Ability to work overtime, occasional weekends and occasional overnight travel.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with leading a team of technicians.
  • Ability to communicate and resolve problems effectively. Excellent time management, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Electronics, or IT or Technical School in the HVAC industry.
  • Field experience and an understanding of the installation and operation of Automated Logic Controls and ability to understand/navigate third party control systems and integrations.
  • Some experience with Automated Logic to include: WebCtrl, SiteBuilder, ViewBuilder, LogicBuilder, InterOp 3.02, Alert, Draw, EDB, Eikon, and Supervision.
  • Experience interacting with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of multiple disciplines.

Pay Range:

$89,500 - $125,500 Annually
