Summary:

Seasoned Design Engineering professional, working independently. Checks completed layouts, communicates with other engineering personnel, resolves design problems, designs new products, maintains existing products, resolves difficult-to-complex design problems, and implements common procedures.

Role Purpose:

• To support the NPD's and sustenance projects.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Work on new product development tasks, cost reduction projects and sustaining projects in a supportive team environment.
• Develop new concepts for enclosures made of plastics, casting, machining, sheet metal
• Collaborate with external vendors/suppliers for manufacturing the concepts using internal standards of IP/NEMA
• Proven experience in working with cross functional teams i.e. Design, Engineering, prototype labs, Manufacturing, marketing etc for development of new product, cost reduction and sustaining engineering activities.
• Prepare necessary component and assembly drawings by following design/standard work guidelines support in releasing the same in PLM system like Windchill.
• Hands-on experience in understanding the design & assembly and carefully generate Engineering Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Performs prototype testing and evaluations, root cause analysis on products and design/production processes.  Participates in engineering tasks and projects with significant scope and complexity
• Wide knowledge of plastics, their grades and sheet metal working techniques.
• Broad experience in plastics injection molding, blow molding, hot plate welding, vibrational welding etc.
• Solid knowledge of injection mold design and application to plastic part design.
• Generate 3D models of castings, stampings, extrusions, injection molded parts and sheet metal parts
• Good knowledge and application of GD&T and Tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Solid knowledge of international standards like IP, NEMA and IEC and their application in designing concepts and finalization of concepts by working with the suppliers.
• Strong hands-on experience on Engineering Change management processes (ECR/ECN/ECO) and PLM tools like Windchill.
• Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals and application during concepts generation.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5 to 8 years of experience in product design and development.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Plastics design and manufacturing
• Hands-on experience in CAD tools such as Creo (Pro-E) and PLM, Windchill

• Candidate must conduct business in an ethical manner, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with little supervision. Know how/where to get answers and overcomes obstacles.  Highly driven, strong communicator who is able to understand customer requirements and project goals, and is able to balance multiple priorities. Work in a team environment when required and produce results in a timely manner. Possess a positive attitude, show enthusiasm, take pride in the work, be results driven, keen to learn, creative and efficient.
