About This Role

The Platform Solution Architect will guides the platform engineering teams in designing, developing and maintaining a reliable, efficient and scalable platform, while staying up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and ensuring alignment with the overall architecture vision

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the architectural design and implementation of the platform 
  • Collaborate with the product owner team on the technical roadmap for the platform, including identifying new technologies and features that can be added to enhance its functionality. 
  • Collaborate with the technical platform lead, technical value stream leads, technical pod leads, product managers, senior technical writers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define platform requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives. 
  • Ensure the platform meets performance, scalability, and reliability requirements through effective testing and monitoring. 
  • Evaluate and select appropriate technology stacks, frameworks, and tools to support platform development and operations. 
  • Provide technical guidance to team members to maintain high-quality standards and best practices as they relate to the platform architecture. 
  • Share and maintain with the team and value stream owners, proposals and recommendations based on industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in the IoT space to ensure the platform remains competitive and innovative. 
  • Provide feedback and insights to the Digital Foundry Architecture Governance Board to aid in the development of standards and strategies 

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years on enterprise architecture experience
  • 6+ years of hands-on, enterprise level, professional software development experience  
  • 4+ years of hands-on cloud system design and architecture development and delivery experience  (AWS)
  • 3+ years of system design and architecture experience 
  • 3+ years of engineering/development team leadership experience (Team Lead, Eng. Mgr, or similar) 
  • 2+ years of distributed engineering team leadership experience 
  • 10% travel required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS Certified
  • Active TOGAF® 9.2 Standardcertification (level 2) 
  • Conduct architecture reviews, cybersecurity reviews, code reviews, and provide technical feedback and guidance 
  • A complete understanding of hardware/embedded/middleware/software development life cycle, from customer needs to product release, is essential. Hands-on experience with development tools & dev-ops is required. 
  • Expertise and domain knowledge in developing, maintaining reusable software services, infrastructure for promoting reuse of services/ components/ libraries. 
  • Deep understanding of standard practices of opensource software development tools and methodology is absolute. 
  • Demonstrated ability and hands-on experience in developing modern, cloud-native, IaC software technologies to deliver industrial, enterprise-grade platform products and services is necessary. 
  • Expertise in developing and deploying solutions in a serverless AWS (Amazon Web Services) environment. Proficiency with other cloud development a plus. 
  • Ability to analyze software services for reuse potential.
