About This Role

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day quality activities within the manufacturing operation, ensuring products are built to specification and that quality performance meets customer, business, and regulatory requirements. This role leads quality personnel, drives problem-solving and corrective action, and partners closely with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials, and Supply Chain to prevent defects and improve overall manufacturing performance. The Quality Supervisor is a hands-on floor leader who establishes a culture of quality ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Job Description

  • Quality Leadership

    • Lead and develop quality personnel supporting manufacturing operations.

    • Establish clear expectations for quality performance, standard work, and accountability.

    • Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor and respond rapidly to quality issues.

    • Ensure adherence to quality procedures, work instructions, specifications, and control plans.

    • Promote a culture of prevention, quality at the source, and continuous improvement.

  • Quality Performance & Metrics

    • Monitor key quality metrics including First Pass Yield (FPY), customer escapes, defects, scrap, rework, Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), and corrective action effectiveness.

    • Identify adverse trends and lead actions to improve quality performance.

    • Establish daily management routines to communicate quality performance and priorities.

    • Provide accurate and timely quality reporting to plant leadership.

  • Problem Solving & Corrective Action

    • Lead structured root-cause analysis using tools such as 8D, 5-Why, fishbone analysis, Pareto analysis, and corrective action methodologies.

    • Ensure containment, root cause, corrective action, and verification activities are completed effectively and on time.

    • Lead cross-functional teams in resolving recurring manufacturing and supplier quality issues.

    • Verify corrective actions are implemented and sustained.

  • Manufacturing Quality

    • Partner with Operations and Manufacturing Engineering to improve process capability and eliminate defects.

    • Ensure appropriate inspection and process controls are in place.

    • Support new product introductions, process changes, and production transfers from a quality perspective.

    • Review and approve deviations, rework, and nonconforming material dispositions within established authority.

    • Ensure nonconforming product is properly identified, contained, documented, and dispositioned.

  • Customer & Supplier Quality

    • Support investigation and resolution of customer complaints and quality escapes.

    • Partner with Supplier Quality and Materials teams to address supplier-related quality issues.

    • Drive supplier containment and corrective action when supplier defects impact production.

    • Participate in customer and supplier quality reviews as required.

  • Continuous Improvement

    • Lead quality improvement projects that improve FPY, reduce scrap and rework, eliminate defects, and reduce COPQ.

    • Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles to improve manufacturing processes.

    • Identify opportunities to mistake-proof processes and strengthen process controls.

    • Ensure lessons learned are incorporated into standard work and quality systems.

  • Compliance & Systems

    • Ensure manufacturing activities comply with applicable Carrier quality systems, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

    • Support internal, external, customer, and regulatory audits.

    • Maintain accurate quality records and documentation.

    • Ensure employees are appropriately trained in quality requirements and standard work.

Required Qualifications

  • Highschool diploma OR GED 

  • 5+ years of experience in operations quality and manufacturing

  • 1+ years of experience leading or supervising employees

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree

  • Strong knowledge of structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and identify quality trends.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively across Operations, Engineering, Materials, Supply Chain, and other functional organizations.

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $64,500.00 - $129,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.

Other Compensation

This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
