In our Commercial HVAC business unit, we deliver iconic solutions of Air Cooled, Water Cooled, and Airside products.

About this role

Commercial HVAC Operations is looking for an Operational Excellence Manager at our Charlotte Factory Location. The Operational Excellence (OpEx) Manager is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing processes, and fostering a culture of operational excellence across manufacturing, logistics, and warehouse operations. This role will focus on increasing efficiency, reducing waste, improving quality, and enhancing overall business performance using Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies. The Operational Excellence Manager, functions as the Site Lead and will be responsible for driving operational excellence initiatives at our Charlotte, North Carolina factory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate Kaizen events, value stream mapping, and Lean activities to drive efficiency and waste reduction
  • Implement and sustain Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools (5S, Standard Work, Root Cause Analysis, PDCA, etc.)
  • Analyze operational data, identify opportunities for process optimization and cost savings
  • Develop and implement standard work procedures, improve consistency and reduce variability in operations
  • Educate lower-level and peer employees on how to apply Carrier Excellence (Cx) tools and methodologies in business and manufacturing environments to drive best in class processes while working to become a recognized Cx Practitioner/Cx Master
  • Coach lower-level and peer employees on how to apply best practices related to quality control procedures to effectively evaluate an organization's products
  • Lead small to medium Cx Site Assessments to enable Cx site and cell certifications
  • Compile potentially complex monthly Cx Performance Metrics, focus that Carrier’s cost, efficiency, and quality objectives are met
  • Demonstrate and coach lower-level and peer employees on the proper application and interpretation of the Cx criteria to gain certification as a Cx Silver/Gold assessor
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert to development Cx training materials, ensure a successful Cx Certification Program
  • Communicate with stakeholders at all levels to gain buy-in and support for initiatives
  • Prioritize safety and compliance with regulatory requirements in operational activities
  • Implement measures to mitigate risks, ensure safe employee working environment

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree & 7+ years of Operational Excellence/ Process Improvement experience

OR

  • Master’s degree & 5+ years of Operational Excellence/ Process Improvement experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering, operations or technology
  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt Certifications
  • Attitude/aptitude for continuous improvement & perform under stress
  • Analytical & organizational skills, attention to detail, and solve problems
  • Technical writing to create, review, & approve protocols/reports, work instructions, forms, and SOPs.
  • Written & verbal English communication skills,
  • Drive & execute projects, meet project timelines, work cooperatively, lead by using project planning skills and documentation
