About this role

Carrier has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Cost Reduction Manager in our Supply Chain Organization to work at our offices in Atlanta, GA. At Carrier we are aggressively pursuing cost savings and efficiencies through design and platforming.  We need a leader who will manage a local and offshore team of analysts and designers working with Carrier engineering teams around the globe to drive Design to Value (DTV) cost savings.   

The candidate will be responsible for leading and participating in product cost teardowns, with a focus on electrical components such as harnesses, switches, and circuit boards.  The candidate will be responsible for aggressively implementing savings ideas within their own team or within engineering teams within the various business units of Carrier.  As well as leading and participating in external engagements with outside consultants to drive high value large platforming projects.

The successful candidate will possess strong bias for action, high energy level, and ability to build interpersonal relationships across Carrier. This candidate will lead by example, maintain a positive attitude and big picture perspective, and drive personal accountability. This leader will build trust and operate with high integrity, display personal courage and commitment, and empower others.

This role reports to Senior Director of Design to Value and platforming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, other engineering teams, procurement, production, finance, to gather relevant savings insights.
  • Lead and manage a global team of engineers and analysists who investigate and implement cost savings ideas.
  • Establish objectives, specifications, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and contingency plans to ensure projects are executed effectively
  • Able to identify and assess risks associated with different design and manufacturing options.
  • Prepare comprehensive cost-benefit analysis with clear recommendations and present findings to key stakeholders.
  • Monitor and track the implementation of recommended strategies, ensure that DTV projects align with those strategies.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to product design.
  • An entrepreneurial and creative approach to developing new, innovative ideas that will stretch the organization and push the boundaries within the industry.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience working in hardware development and/or cost reduction
  • 5+ years leading cross functional engineering teams in design and development projects with internal and external customer deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in cost savings idea generation, cost estimating, and decision-making techniques.
  • Prior career experience with Electrical Engineering design tools and more recent experience managing teams using such tools.
  • Experience leading teams of 10+ with resources in the USA and offshore.
  • Experience working as a team leader with or within supply chain management.  Solid understanding of supply chain management principles, including procurement, production planning, and logistics.
  • Ability to work within a newly forming team and the initial ambiguity as that team defines roles and responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex analyses in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence decision-making processes.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and quality of work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically to drive innovative solutions.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in hardware design and manufacturing.
  • Flexibility and Open Leadership style - Approachable, listen aggressively, relate well to employees and co-workers, and adaptable to changing requirements and priorities.
  • Professional presence and ability to communicate across all levels within the organization
